How Tangem Works

  1. Your Tangem card (or ring) contains a secure chip that generates and store your private keys. They never leave the chip. It’s like a Tangem cold wallet system.
  2. It’s NFC technology that transfers encrypted data between your card and the app installed in your phone. This way your app knows your card is authorized.
  3. Actually, the mobile app acts as an interface for all.
  4. You get up to 3 – 4 cards for creating backups. You can use these backups to restore access to your account if you lose your main card.
  5. Tangem gives you a choice to create an optional seed phrase. The default mode uses no seed phrases, it’s fully hardware-based.




Quick Fixes

  1. You must make sure that NFC is turned on in your device. Sometimes the main issue for your Tangem login arises from disabled or blocked NFC access.
  2. In case your card scanning fails. You must remove all NFC items from your phone case (if any). Now hold your card closer to your phone and keep it stable.
  3. Error codes like (30004, 90014, 50003) arise due to phone temperature or module issues. If that’s the case, let your phone cool down, or restart it.
  4. You need to enter the access code that you created during setup.
  5. If you ever complete the Tangem download app process on a new device. Make sure to scan your card and enter the access code.

Tablet Login

  1. You must use an NFC-supported tablet (Note: Many tablets may not have NFC, check them first).
  2. Install the application on your tablet.
  3. Tap your Tangem card or ring close to your tablet’s NFC area. Enter your access code.
  4. The larger screen of your tablet is a big plus for managing assets and get a better visual of your entire portfolio.

Desktop Setup

  1. The reason majority of desktops or laptops doesn’t have NFC setup, Tangem login is not possible.
  2. But you can certainly use your phone to authorize your login on desktop.
  3. However, you may see your dashboard linked through the Wallet Connect protocol for certain functions. That’s because your mobile device still handles the core login and signing in part.
